What Our Customers Are Saying About Us

Michael Kearney at Butterfly PBC did our entire solar install, from initial design and proposal to permitting, sizing, contracting with installation crew and electricians, connecting into the PECO grid, getting a new meter installed, signing up for power credits - everything. It's a complicated process with many steps and checkpoints - and Michael did the entire process. He also got us the best possible price. I had an initial bid from a company that promises to do it all for free, and at a fixed low price per kWh. That sounded like a rip-off to me, and with Butterfly, you own your own system and you're not paying your electric company for years to pay back the panels. I recommend self- financing your solar project - let Michael do the comparison for you. A few weeks ago, we changed our wireless service - which also means that the solar panels can't communicate with the tracking app. I didn't notify Michael, but he called us and asked us for the new wifi password - in other words, years after the install he continues to monitor our solar system's performance and uptime. Best part about solar: on a sunny day, see how much you're giving back to the grid. It's amazing. Butterfly did a great job - highly recommended.

A few years ago I got in touch with several solar companies. One guy talked for an hour and asked me no questions. Seemed like he just wanted to hear himself talk. Michael Kearney of Butterfly talked to me and answered all my questions. My house is an 1850 converted barn. I was concerned that my old beams would not hold up the extra weight of the panels. Michael brought his engineer to have a look and reassure me. My wife asked Michael if putting solar panels on the roof would cause the roof to leak. Michael said if that happened he'd be out of business. His business is doing well. In other words, no roof leaks. Michael took me around our neighborhood to look at 6 houses that have his solar systems in them. I was able to talk to all the owners about their experiences Our solar system was installed on December 29, 2023, almost 4 months ago and has been creating a lot of electricity since then. We've already received a sizable refund from the federal government for our installation costs. I've heard that the installation costs can be recouped in 6-10 years. I'll know more about that in May when PECO figures out how much they owe me. I like that Michael lives near me and wants to put solar in this township. Recently Michael was out walking his dog and stopped by my house for a chat. He's a very friendly guy who is very quick to answer all my questions by text or email or in person. I highly recommend Michael Kearney and Butterfly Solar

We have been so pleased with our solar installation. Butterfly did a great job handling everything design through construction and has maintained contact with follow up information on using the Enphase app, coordinating the net metering with PECO. We are happy Butterfly customers!

We love our solar system and had a great experience with Butterfly PBC. They designed a system to match our electric bill, then installed it in one day. Little did we know but the next week our house was hit by a tornado with winds up to 139 miles per hour. Trees down everywhere, including a pine tree through our own house. Not a single scratch on the solar system. We learned later that Butterfly designs systems to withstand even higher winds than 139 miles per hour. Once the pine tree was removed, Butterfly came and took the solar array down, tore off the old roof, put a new roof back and then reinstalled the solar system. It is also great to work with a local company. If you are an eastern PA resident considering solar or a new roof (and possibly solar), do yourself a favor and contact Butterfly.

Great experience! From quoting to installation to watching our bill drop! Butterfly was easy to contact and, as the wife in the household, I was very happy with the way I was treated as an equal decision maker. There was no "let's wait until your husband is home". He gave me equal attention and information. I know several people in our area that have used Butterfly and we are all happy!

Solar Design & Proposal

No obligations!

Whether you are ready to go solar or just curious, we can provide an initial view of your home’s solar potential. This is a great way to start.

We will look at how much sun hits your roof and how much space there is for a solar system.. The goal here is to help you understand your home’s unique solar potential. Two homes on the same street can have drastically different energy production. The gold colored homes below are ideal for solar compared to their neighbors across the street on the shady side.

On Site Solar Survey By Butterfly

When you are ready to move forward, let’s meet!

This site visit simply cannot be done remotely as we need to see three key parts of your home: your roof, your roof’s internal framing structure (usually available via an attic or crawl space), your home’s existing electric main service panel (MSP) and PECO meter.

We typically need about 5 – 10 minutes inside your home.

With this onsite survey completed, we now can tell you accurately whether you need any work done on your roof or if an upgrade will be required for the existing electric service. Most homes in Upper Dublin will need very little, if anything, in terms of prep work. But we still check to avoid surprises later.

Finally, we turn to the engineers to develop a system that is compliant with Pennsylvania’s new solar code and PECO’s interconnection standards.

Finance & Construction

Let’s do this!

We will provide you with a final contract to review and request either a 10% deposit or, if you are getting a loan, skip the deposit once your loan application is submitted.

Next up are permit applications for your town and PECO’s Interconnection paperwork for your approval and signature.

Once your permits are approved, then it is time to set an install date. Most residential installs will be done in 1-2 days.

All Systems Go!

Congratulations!

After inspections are completed, then it’s time to “flip the switch”.

We will prepare documents for the federal tax credit, recurring local SREC payments, and final PECO requirements. Additionally, we will provide you with your project’s building and electrical plans in a digital format. This is handy for a variety of reasons including how it increases the value of your home!
